The Department of Engineering and Physics offers part-time
employment for a number of undergraduate and graduate students throughout the
year. Duties performed by these
students may include tutoring, assisting in labs, grading, monitoring
computer labs, and assisting on research projects.
Student Instructional Assistants
Undergraduate and graduate students may be employed as
Instructional Assistants at any level of their education. The majority, however, are junior or

a certain level of background preparation.
The number of jobs available annually varies with the availability of
funds in the department’s annual budget.

free software component MS-Word
Viewer.
Both versions of the form
contain fields which allow them to filled in
on-line, but a final copy will have to be printed and delivered to the
Department of Engineering and Physics with the applicant’s signature.
2.
A CURRENT TRANSCRIPT (information about obtaining free UCO transcripts is
available here.)
3.
Prior to each semester, Instructional Assistants must also submit copies of
their class schedules and information about any other obligations that might
interfere with their work schedules.
Note: Students working as Instructional Assistants are
employed by the Department of Engineering and Physics and are not the same as
Graduate Assistants (“GA’s”) which are awarded by the university.
Student Research Assistants
Undergraduate and graduate students may be employed as
Research Assistants at any level of their education. Funds for these positions are typically
provided through grants secured by Engineering and Physics faculty
members. Students interested in
working with a particular faculty member should consult directly with that
faculty member to determine what funds are available. Students interested in doing research may
also contact the Engineering and Physics office directly to determine which faculty have grants with funds available to support
student research.
Note: Students working as Research Assistants are employed
by the Department of Engineering and Physics and are not the same as Graduate
Research Assistants (“RA’s”) which are awarded by the university.
